Polaris

GreenVee's built-in, shared AI chat assistant — always available, no setup required.

Polaris is GreenVee’s built-in AI chat assistant. It’s shared across your whole organization and always available — there’s no Agent to create or activate first. Open Polaris from the navigation to start chatting.

What Polaris can use

By default Polaris has no special access beyond its own instructions. Your team opts capabilities in explicitly:

  • Agent Skills with their “Use in Polaris” switch turned on
  • MCP Servers (and their allowed Tools) with their “Use in Polaris” switch turned on

This keeps Polaris’s toolset intentional — a Skill or MCP Server built for one specific Agent doesn’t automatically leak into the shared assistant.

Conversations

Each chat with Polaris is a conversation: a multi-turn thread with its own history, kept in the conversation list on the left. Conversations:

  • Get a short, auto-generated title after the first exchange (you can rename it)
  • Show an unread indicator when there’s new activity you haven’t seen
  • Can include file attachments alongside your messages

Chatting with a specific Agent instead

Starting a new chat, you can pick a specific active Agent (Usage main or both) instead of the shared Polaris default. The conversation then runs with that Agent’s own model, instructions, Skills, and MCP Servers rather than Polaris’s — everything else about the chat (history, title, attachments) works the same way.

Watching a conversation work

While Polaris (or a bound Agent) is working on a reply, the info panel alongside the chat can show:

  • To-dos it’s tracking for a multi-step task
  • Subagents it has spawned to handle part of the request, so you can see delegated work in progress
  • Any working files it has produced
