How the pieces fit together

A Good Type (e.g. “Pipe”) groups related Goods (e.g. “Steel Pipe”). Each Good can have multiple Variants (e.g. “Steel Pipe DN100”, “Steel Pipe DN200”) — one Variant per distinct SKU.

When a project needs materials, engineers raise Procurement Requests against specific Variants. Those requests become Purchases (buy externally) or are fulfilled from Stock (take from the warehouse). Every material consumed on a Task is recorded as a Good Usage entry, giving a complete audit trail from catalogue to installation.

Equipment follows a parallel path: an Equipment Unit category groups individual Equipment records. Bookings and time-based usage are handled in the Time and Calendar section.

Note

“Material” and “Good” are the same thing in GreenVee. The system uses both labels depending on which screen you are in. See Materials vs Goods for the full explanation.
