Who uses GreenVee?

GreenVee is used by people inside a single engineering firm. Different roles use very different parts of the workspace, so most pages in these docs are tagged with one or more personas, indicating who that page matters most to.

The six personas

Project Manager

The most common GreenVee user. Owns one or more projects from kick-off to closing. Lives in the project Scoreboard, Gantt, and Planning tabs. Cares about: are we on schedule, on budget, what is red, who is overloaded, what is the next gate.

Team Lead / Coordinator

Manages a department or a group of people across projects. Lives in resource views and department-level issue and task lists. Cares about: who has skill X free this week, whose hours are planned vs. logged, what is blocking my team.

Engineer / Technical Designer

Designs the thing the project will build. Lives in the technical structure tab, the materials catalogue, and the procurement screens. Cares about: what components does this plant need, what specifications must each meet, who will supply them.

Field Worker / Operative

Executes assigned work in the field. Lives in “My Tasks”, “My Issues”, time tracking, and the calendar. Cares about: what is mine today, where am I going, how do I log my time.

Finance / Controller

Tracks the financial side of projects. Lives in budget tabs, cost and earnings views, and purchase lists. Cares about: planned vs. actual cost, open purchases, recognized revenue, margin per project.

Executive / Portfolio Manager

Oversees a whole portfolio of projects and programs. Lives in portfolio dashboards, multi-project Gantt, and state reports. Cares about: which projects contribute to which strategic targets, portfolio-level risk, which programs are red.

How personas appear in these docs

Where a concept matters mostly to one or two roles, you will see a callout like this:

For Project Managers

This is where you will spend most of your time during execution.

For Engineers

This is the place where the technical specification gets recorded.

If a page has no persona callouts, the topic is relevant to everybody.

A note on roles vs. permissions

These six personas are descriptive, not technical roles enforced by the system. GreenVee does not require you to declare a role when you are invited. Instead, you will naturally use the parts of GreenVee that match your job.
