Money
What this section covers
Section titled “What this section covers”Money in GreenVee is organized around a simple spine:
- A Budget sets the target. A Cost Item is a named line in that budget.
- Occurrences record what actually happens — costs incurred, revenue received.
- An Order captures the commercial agreement on the sales side.
- A Budget Request formalizes the process of changing a budget allocation.
These four concepts work together. A Cost Item holds a Budget. Costs are recorded as Cost Occurrences against that Cost Item. Revenue is tracked as Earning Occurrences against an Order, and a project’s economic benefit is a single figure on the Project itself. When the budget needs to change, a Budget Request starts the approval flow.

The financial picture in one paragraph
Section titled “The financial picture in one paragraph”Every Project can have Cost Items — named budget lines such as “Material Cost” or “Loan Repayment.” Each Cost Item carries its own Budget with a target value and a goal value. As work proceeds, Cost Occurrences record actual and expected spending against those lines. Portfolios and Programs don’t hold Cost Items directly — instead their budget views add up the Cost Items of every Project underneath them, and each Portfolio or Program has its own Budget Goal for an aggregate target. If the project has a sales agreement, an Order holds the contract details, and Earning Occurrences record each payment received. The project’s economic value is tracked as a single Benefit figure, and its Business Case view combines that with earnings and costs into a profit picture. When a budget needs adjustment, a Budget Request documents the ask and the decision.
